They're not bad. This one in particular has never been a favorite of mine, though.

But I'm sorry to hear that. Have you been able to find somewhere to stay and work? [And a smile as she pauses for breath.] Ah, I don't mean to be intrusive. I work at the Welcome Center.

[ Clearing his throat. Wow. Awkward. ] I used to be married. I've had practice.

[ OH HURRAY MOVING ON-- ] I'm in training at the hospital. [ Eyeroll. ] I'm a good two centuries ahead of the technology they have, so I've got to learn how to use archaic medical tools.

Two centuries? Oh my. My own world is a little advanced compared to much of what is here, but that must be a startling difference.

It's not fun. [ Not that he's opposed to history -- he actually rather like it -- but having to deal with it constantly is kind of a pain in the ass. ]

It must be frustrating. Especially when you want to help people and feel more limited in what you can do.

It is. [ He hates it. He's a damn good doctor, limited tools inside, but he knows he could do more with better ones. ]

There are skilled people here. Maybe you could collaborate with someone to have some of them constructed if we have the materials and you knew how they worked. I seem to recall Tony Stark building things. [She is all about people working together for the common good here.]

I've had a few people want to take a look. I'm not an engineer, though -- I can give the basics, but I don't know about that rest. [ But god, would it be handy. ]

Of course. I knew how to pilot a knightmare frame, but I'd never know how to tell someone to construct one. Not that I would want to of course.

A knightmare frame?

Oh, yes, it's a vehicle and a weapon. They are large. About ten times the size of a person, but they are shaped like a person with arms and legs, a torso, and a head. They can move over streets and some of the newer models can fly and they have advanced weapon systems. They're usually used in combat.

... I'm glad I'm a doctor and not a pilot.

[She smiles at that.] I know how to pilot one, but I'm no knight or soldier or pilot for that matter.

Then what, is it a hobby of yours?

[deadly_legacy]

No, it's just expected of someone of my station. [Being a tiny bit vague here, not that it's really a secret.] And it makes it easier to travel.

Your station? Are you a diplomat of some sort?

[Well, since he asked] I was the third princess of the Britannian Empire and sub-viceroy of Area 11, formerly Japan. So, I suppose you could say that. [Not that Britannia was big on diplomacy.]

[She smiles in what she hopes is a reassuring way.] I've been here for almost two years. It seems more fitting to say I'm a waitress and I [am in charge of] work at the Welcome Center.

[ It does help, and he dips his head. ] Sorry. Just... training, an' all that.

You have training for interacting with princesses?

[mintjulep]

A bit, yeah. Starfleet does peacekeeping; you never know when a princess from a nearby planet wants a tour of the ship.

What is Starfleet? Do you mean a space ship?

Peacekeeping and humanitarian armada for the United Federation of Planets. And yeah, a starship.
