This is Leonard McCoy, Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Enterprise. Bridge, do you copy?
[ There’s a man in science blue standing next to the fountain, looking cold and grumpy as he shakes his device. ]
Damn interference… Enterprise, this is McCoy. I don’t know what the hell happened with those infernal transporters, but I’m damn sure I ain’t where I’m supposed to be. Scott, can you hear me? Jim? Uhura? Sulu? Chekov? Chapel? Anyone?
… Spock?
[ Nothing, not even the hobgoblin. Dammit. ]
Right, well. Looks like I’ll try and blend in. Christmas music and all...
[ Except since his communicator couldn’t reach the Enterprise, it broadcasted his conversation to the entire city instead… ]

so keep your eyes set on the horizon
Leonard McCoy, right? I see you've been caffeinated.
so keep your eyes set on the horizon
[ There's a bit of an awkward shift as he attempts to hold his coffee and take the jacket from her at the same time, but he manages. The jacket is definitely long enough, but she'd been right; it's probably going to be a bit tight on the shoulders. It's still a coat, though, and he's grateful. ]
Thanks.

[Aware of his juggling act, she suddenly thinks better of her decision to not extend a hand for him to shake by way of introduction. Claire doesn't bother pointing out that she hopes to get the jacket back: it's not the sort of thing you say to someone you've just shown some degree of charity to and she's not altogether sure she actually wants it back. Its owner is over a year gone, and if Leonard finds it comfortable, then it's better suited serving a purpose than collecting dust like a lint roller for her closet.]
It's no problem. Not that I make a habit of trolling the Network and looking for people who might need winter wear, but it's the least I could do. I take it you've already been sent a copy of the guide.
so keep your eyes set on the horizon
[ He's pulling the coat on when she decides that it's time to extend a hand, which results in him taking her hand to shake with the coat halfway on. He probably looks like a right mess, but to be honest, he sort of is; he's got no idea where he is, he was out in the cold, and he's got no way of getting in touch with the Enterprise. There are people here, though. That much is something, so he might as well try and make a halfway decent first impression. ]
I don't make a habit of appearing in cold places without winter wear, so we're even. And yeah, two copies, actually.
so keep your eyes set on the horizon
A lot of people don't ask for help, a lot of them settle in and understand right away. It feels... normal for someone to actually react to even half the degree she would anticipate.]
Then you should be set. Some of it's... a little outdated, to be honest, but most of it still translates well. And a lot of us have been here for ever, so it's not like there aren't people you can't ask questions.
[Her eyes settle on his coffee, and she brings the body of her purse around to the front so that she can sort through it to find her wallet.]
so keep your eyes set on the horizon
Yourself included?
[ He's not sure if he wants to know how long people have been stuck here. He's heard things, people being stuck on planets where time seems to pass so much more quickly than it does elsewhere, spending years there when it's only been a few days for whoever is coming to rescue them. ]
