This is Leonard McCoy, Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Enterprise. Bridge, do you copy?

[ There’s a man in science blue standing next to the fountain, looking cold and grumpy as he shakes his device. ]

Damn interference… Enterprise, this is McCoy. I don’t know what the hell happened with those infernal transporters, but I’m damn sure I ain’t where I’m supposed to be. Scott, can you hear me? Jim? Uhura? Sulu? Chekov? Chapel? Anyone?

… Spock?

[ Nothing, not even the hobgoblin. Dammit. ]

Right, well. Looks like I’ll try and blend in. Christmas music and all...

[ Except since his communicator couldn’t reach the Enterprise, it broadcasted his conversation to the entire city instead… ]

New York originally, though I was in London before I arrived here, and the year was 1878. And you, Doctor?

Georgia, originally, though I've been in California for the past three years. [ And space. ] And it was 2258.

2258? I think you are by far the furthest in the future of everyone that I have spoken to. Most people seem to be from around 2000.

Around 2000? [ Ugh. Great. ] I'll keep that in mind.

The technology all from about that time? [ Not that she'd know, exactly, being from the 1800s, but... ]

That is certainly true, though everything I thought I knew was real has already been turned upside down once, so accepting that more than what I knew existed was not such a difficult exercise.

... [ Eyebrow. ]

This sort of thing happen to you a lot?

No, nothing of the sort, but-- I went to England and learnt that vampires and Shadowhunters and Downworlders all exist and are not merely fiction. After that, it was no longer so difficult to believe other things as well upon my arrival here.

"Downworlders"?

[ There's a moment of consideration, and then he gives a slight nod. ]

I've had some crazy things involving alternate realities and time travel happen to me recently, so I suppose I can't judge. [ Not her, anyway, he likes her. He'll judge everyone else as much as he damn well pleases, though. ]

Those who are not human, nor Shadowhunter. Vampires, warlocks... Those who have some relation to demons and the like.

Alternate realities and time travel? Your life must be very eventful.

I see. Sounds like an interesting world.

[ Eventful. Well, it has been ever since he met Jim Kirk. Before that it was just depressing, a happy lead-up to his ruined marriage. ]

There's nothin' like someone coming from the future and mucking up your reality, I'll give you that.

I suppose it is that. [ She never wanted her life to be exciting, though. ]

Mucking up-- [ a vague frown. ] That does not sound very pleasant.

[ There's a quirk of his lips. ] Maybe if the Christmas music stops playing so much.

It will. Many things such as the music are merely passing and last no longer than a day.
